Cat Diarrhea. Symptoms, Causes and Treatment


It doesn’t matter who we are a human or an animal medicine may upset your stomach; this can cause diarrhea or cat diarrhea. Here we are talking about cats. By paying attention to your cat’s lifestyle, we may or may not be freely aware of the specifics of her bathing habits. Furthermore, cats are very fussy about training so the tell-tale (or tell-tail) ciphers of diarrhea may be missed, especially in the early periods of life. It is why repetitive or daily bases veterinary visits are essential.

  • Diet Change or Dietary Indiscretion—You have to take more care about your cat’s diet than a dog because they are more sensitive than dogs. But sometimes they do eat unsuitable things like string, grass etc. Even a focused change in diet from one food to another can cause diarrhea
  • Disorders of Primary inflammatory– Like inflammatory bowel disease in people, inflammatory disorders can cause your cat to develop diarrhea
  • Constipation– It may seem counter intuitive. But we mention it because older cats are prone to developing motility problems in their colons, leading to illness. So, in these cases, the cats often manage to only pass a small amount of more liquid stools around the barriers.
  • The disease of Metabolic– By disorders of the liver or pancreas to thyroid imbalances. Many other problems upset the environment or motility in the GI tract resulting in diarrhea
  • Toxins or Medications– We all know that certain antibiotics can upset the GI tract, but other viruses and other medications can also cause diarrhea.

But these days, we realize that your pretty cat’s intestines need some nutrition to heal themselves. Thus covering-up with food will not be recommended.
  • How to and what to feed your cat? Enhance in fibre intake is an option since it is considered a great equalizer (good for diarrhea and also suitable for consumption). Though, we think it is an excellent option to go with multiple smaller meals of something easily eatable & digestible. This show that the meal with low fat, mostly starch or carbohydrate diets like rice, pasta or potatoes (mixed with a little chicken), yogurt, turkeys or small fat cottage. Believe me or not most cats are also happy to eat meat-based baby foods.
